Shelves: non-fiction An enlightening read. This book taught me the ABC of eating right and staying healthy , but implementing is always a different scene altogether , LOL! Though its a book on nutrition, with every page power-packed with gyan and inspiration, it never ceased to interest me. It is obvious that many of the facts were obvious and known but it is also true that a major amount of the content was brimming with facts unknown or re-establishing the facts that have been overwritten with conclusions of the An enlightening read.

Shelves: healthbook , non-fiction Eat Delete Since very long i wanted to read the book Eat Delete by renowned nutritionist Pooja Makhija. She has been writing with TOI as a nutritionist columnist for years and i have always found words of wisdom in her writings which is why i wished to read her whole work in the arena of health and diet.
Finally few days back i got this book in my hands but when i started reading this book i got skeptical whether the book is for me or not because starting pages are lot more written whole heartily Eat Delete Since very long i wanted to read the book Eat Delete by renowned nutritionist Pooja Makhija. Finally few days back i got this book in my hands but when i started reading this book i got skeptical whether the book is for me or not because starting pages are lot more written whole heartily dedicated to the people suffering from serious obesity issues, binge eaters and anorexic maniacs all of which i am not fortunately.
I just wanted to deal with little fat that has acquired its space here and there under my skin which i ardently believe is a result of careless eating habits and sluggish routines. But when i completed the third chapter i saw a little shift in my thoughts regarding food that we consume and this all got more and more vivid as i turned the pages more and more This book is really wonderful if you read it with a mindset of acquiring knowledge about what our body do with the food that we feed it with and what is the food-body relationship?
I believe that even the least of sensible person knows that loosing weight is not like.. Kgs of weight lost. But sadly even the high intellect kinds fell prey to things like crash diets, weeks and days detox diet plan etc etc. But still for lot of people today weight loss is associated with looking glam.. This book only tells you to love your food and moreover love your body and most importantly trust your body. And honestly i absolutely loved this idea.
Though the book will not provide with the details of calories count of every food according to every region or family culture but then no book is exhaustive. If we are dedicated we can do this work by ourselves. Every food product today provide all these in their labels but then some may think why create so much fuss over it but i think slowly by observing this habit you can develop an idea of the nutritive values of the food that you daily eat.
This book teaches you that every body has its own calorie burning capacity and it does it even if you do not do an iota of exercise. So if we know the functioning of our body and its calorie burning capacity plus if we keep little knowledge of the food that we eat i think we all can manage well to continue walking on the path of health conscious eating. Aim for fit and healthy body and eating right at the right time in the right proportions will definitely give you the right body.
There are some very good real life examples in the book. You will definitely gain some positive knowledge on weight loss from this book. Cons 1. Starting of the Book is not very interesting. It deals with your psychological relationship with food. But if you continue reading it becomes a little bit interesting and shows the mistake you are making in daily life.
It starts by convincing you about avoiding unhealthy foods without telling anything about which foods are unhealthy. This book presupposes that all the weight gain due to binge and tells you psychological ways to avoid binge. Psychological advice is given on how not to stop in between a diet control programme without giving any knowledge on how to make a diet plan, what to eat and not to eat. All Psychological advice should have been given at the end of the book and not in begining.
Why it has to be given in a weight loss book that too at the begining. Writer wants you to write a long letter to the food you eat. In the 4th Section is again full of psychological advice on how to avoid over eating on Social occasions and Vacations.
Out of 4 Sections 3 are full of psychological advice. Only 1 section talks about weight loss tips.
