When she wrote the first few pages of her first book, she had never even read a romance, noting that she had always considered them to be to un-intellectual for her liking. During a graduate level creative writing class, her professor requested they write the first 50 pages of a book that would get published. Pragmatically, Robards went to a local bookstore, looked at what was selling, and decided that was what she would write. Her classmates laughed, and her professor noted that while she had talent, she needed to fix her reading material.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. Although I enjoyed the first one, it had some strange aspects that were a turn off for me. Although those same things were present in this book, I guess I have had enough time to come to terms with them. The ghost of Michael Garland is growing on me too. He had some good moments in the first book, but many more in this one. While dealing with the investigation, she is also trying to keep the ghost of convicted killer Michael Garland from being pulled permanently into the after world.
The storyline of this book was interesting, and I am growing attached to the characters of the series. I thought the book had a nice balance of romance and suspense, although I still find it odd to have Charlotte involved in a romance with a ghost.
I felt that the 1st book had a huge ick factor with Charlotte being so attracted to Michael while strongly believing that he was a serial killer who had done atrocious things to numerous women. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
The premise was ridiculous, the graphic sex unnecessary, and a waste of time to read. I fervently hope Ms Robards returns to writing classy, entertaining thrillers once again More Books by Karen Robards.
